In May 2025, Taylor at Lucky Lady Floral and I had the opportunity to travel to Montana to capture Chyanne and Rich’s Glacier National Park elopement. We flew in a couple of days before the elopement to explore the state and gather wild, locally sourced flowers for Chyanne’s bouquet. It was such a special way to settle into the landscape and start dreaming up how to tell their story.
Montana is something else. Wide open skies, snow-capped mountains, and that sense of quiet that makes you breathe a little deeper. We stayed in Polson, right on the southern tip of Flathead Lake, which ended up being the perfect launch point for the day.
One of our favorite stops was just outside of town at the National Bison Range on the Flathead Reservation, managed by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT). We drove slowly through the area and spotted buffalo, elk, and antelope roaming the hills. It was such a peaceful and wild moment, really grounding us before the big day.
On the day of the elopement, we started our morning at their lakefront cabin. Chyanne’s dress hung in the window, catching the soft morning light, while Taylor put the last finishing touches on Chyanne’s floral arrangements. From the cabin, we headed up to Glacier National Park.
Before their private ceremony in Glacier, we explored the park for portraits, chasing the beautiful backdrops of Lake McDonald and snow-dusted mountains. Glacier National Park is unreal in May. It is still quiet, with pockets of snow on the ground and that crisp, fresh air you can’t quite describe. Chyanne and Rich were all in, hiking in boots, laughing through the wind. Every part of the day felt raw and meaningful.
To wrap the evening, we made our way back toward Flathead Lake, where Chyanne and Rich ended their day in the most unforgettable way. They jumped off a boat into the cold, clear water. It was spontaneous, joyful, and so true to who they are. The kind of ending you can’t plan, but you know you’ll never forget.
Being a part of their Montana elopement felt like stepping into a dream. Whether you’re planning your own elopement or just love stories rooted in nature, Glacier National Park is truly one of the most breathtaking backdrops out there.
